1. Chuffed – very pleased

Sentence – I’m outrightly chuffed with my exam 
results.


2. Thrilled – very excited and pleased

Sentence – I and my friends were thrilled to visit the 
adventure park.



3. Beastly – unpleasant

Sentence – Nobody wants to remind the beastly 
moments from their past.


4. Jolly – very (used as more positive)
Sentence – This wine is jolly nice.



5. Preposterous – completely unreasonable, in a way that is shocking or annoying

Sentence – These claims are absolutely preposterous.



6. Ghastly – really bad, unpleasant
Sentence – Our trip was ruined due to ghastly
weather.



7. Yonks – a long time; ages


Sentence – It’s been yonks since I’ve last been here.



8. Golly – used to express surprise
Sentence – Golly! Aren’t you early?



9. Lavatory – a toilet, bathroom
Sentence – Could you point me towards the nearest 
lavatory?



10. Helping – serving, an amount of food given to somebody at a meal

Sentence – I’d just like a small helping of carrots.
