1. Impending (verb) – an event, usually something unpleasant or unwanted going to happen soon

Sentence – For pessimists, some disaster always 
seems to be impending.


2. Catastrophe(noun) – very bad; a sudden event that causes great trouble or destruction

Sentence – over inflation in the economy can be 
the disaster for the poor and middle class.


3. Robust(adj) – strong, healthy; vigorous

Sentence – We had a robust discussion in the 
meeting yesterday.


4. Sceptical/Skeptical(adj) – to doubt that something is true or useful     
                                                 

Sentence – I’m still sceptical about the plan that 
he told me in the morning.


5. Escalate(verb) – to become or make something greater or more serious

Sentence – A discussion suddenly escalated into a conflict.
