10 Advanced Adjectives

1. Arduous (adj.) – difficult, hard work, taking an effort to complete

Sentence – Starting a company is arduous work but it’s not impossible.

2. Flippant (adj.) – not taking something as seriously as you should. (Lacking respect)

Sentence – You shouldn’t be so flippant about the exam.

3. Exasperated (adj.) – Extremely annoyed/ impatient because things are not going the way you want.

Sentence – I was exasperated when the processes in the

the company do not work as they designed to work efficiently.

4. Meticulous (adj.)– showing great attention to detail/ very careful and precise.

Sentence – She is the supervisor in the factory and she is

meticulous about each and everything that takes place in the factory.

5. Fastidious (adj.) – concerned about cleanliness and very attentive to accuracy

Sentence – She is greatly fastidious when it comes to

cleaning the house.

6. Oblivious (adj.) – to not be aware of something often because you weren’t paying attention.

Sentence – He was totally oblivious about what happened

before he entered the room.

7. Skeptical (adj.)– not easily convinced/dubious

Sentence – He made the audience skeptical with his

behavior.

8. Zealous (adj.) – enthusiastic and eager

Sentence – She was zealous to know the result in her favor.

9. Convoluted (adj.)- argument, story, the sentence which are extremely complex and difficult to follow.

Sentence – I usually don’t get into the convoluted

arguments but it doesn’t mean that I don’t object to anything which is wrong.

10. Ornate (adj.) – highly decorated

Sentence – This house looks more beautiful with ornate

flowery lighting on the boundaries.
