We can use these smart words to sound more fluent in English, and obviously to sound smarter. I’ll promise you, wherever you use these words, it’ll definitely make a better impression of yours, there.

So, let’s get started...

 

1. Flummox – to confuse someone

             

Sentence – He was flummoxed by his mentor’s advice.

 

2. Lethargic – to do something in a lazy way or slower than the usual

                    

Sentence – Market is seems to be lethargic for the past few months.

 

3. Obnoxious – extremely unpleasant, nasty

           

Sentence – My roommate in the hostel has some obnoxious habits that annoy me a lot.

 

4. Plummet – rapid fall or drop at high speed

           

Sentence – Stock prices plummeted all-time low this month.

 

5. Suave – to be polite and smooth

           

Sentence – He’s trying to be suave in front of the audience.

 

6. Obtuse – someone who is dumb, stupid unintelligent, and slow.   

                 


Sentence – Don’t be an obtuse by giving your number to any fraudster.

 

7. Atrocious – someone/something which is bad, evil, cruel, terrible  

                 


Sentence – His behaviour at the party was atrocious.
