Phrasal Verbs with ‘Look’

1. Look over – to review or to inspect something carefully.


Sentence – Will you please look over my document and also make sure it’s correct.


2. Look into – to investigate

Sentence – I really don’t know about this deal, but I will 

definitely look into it.


3. Look back – to think about or to reflect on the past

Sentence – When we’ll become older and if we look back on our lives, we shouldn’t have many regrets.


4. Look around – to walk or to wander around a place to see what is there.

Sentence – I was just looking around in the market when I 

met her.


5. Look up – to search for/ to get information or details

Sentence – I should look up her on social media in order to 

get more information about her.


6. Look up to (someone) – to admire or to respect someone

Sentence – I always look up to my mother and sister because they are the most optimistic and motivated people in my life.


7. Look through – to look or review something carefully

Sentence – Would you please look through these papers 

of property to make sure that everything is right?


8. Look out – warning to tell someone to be careful

Sentence – Wait, There’s a car coming lookout.


9. Look after – to care for something or someone

Sentence – My neighbours asked me to look after their dog.


10.    Look for – to search or to find something or someone

Sentence – Can you help me to look for my car keys?
